Background

The EU social partners have resolved to continue their joint project activities and build upon the outcomes of the previous Integrated Projects. The Integrated Projects (IP) of the European Social Dialogue (EUSD) have provided the European social partners with an important tool to promote and reinforce the link between social dialogue at national and European level, as well as to address emerging issues which are of joint relevance.

Having identified the need for improved skills matching in the EU as a key issue, EU social partners have decided to focus on skills matching in the EU, through the organisation of a series of meetings and dedicated research.

Objectives of the Conference

  • To contribute to the overall aim of the project “Improving skills matching in Europe”, by addressing labour and skills shortages from a multi-faceted perspective and promoting better outcomes for both workers and employers.
  • To present the project report and key findings, gather feedback, and engage in discussion with the European Commission.
  • To exchange views on the draft recommendations during parallel workshops.

Practical organisation

This seminar will gather social partners from all EU member states and candidate countries.

There should be a balance between trade union and employer delegations, and organisations should take gender balance into account when nominating participants. There are approximately 80 places available:

  • 40 participants for employer’s representatives
  • 40 participants for trade union’s representatives

The working language of the seminar will be English. Interpretation will be provided for English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.

BusinessEurope is in charge of the practical organisation on behalf of all European social partners.
