This joint European social partners’ study is designed to provide European social partners with material on the specific restructuring challenges facing EU countries and to further pursue their prospective discussions on economic and social change.

This study has covered 26 EU countries between 2005 and 2009 (see table below). A concluding EU-wide Final Conference took place in Brussels on 21 & 22 January 2010 where the findings of the overall study were presented and discussed.

METHODOLOGY

Detailed national dossiers were prepared by experts and discussed during national seminars, attended by 20-40 national Social Partner representatives. The national dossiers set out the main economic and social trends in each country, their situation in terms of restructuring, and a description of their industrial relations systems and national social dialogue mechanisms as well as case studies.
